We are pleased to share a summary of the results of the National Latin Exam taken by our students this year!

The National Latin Exam is a national test that provides a great opportunity for students to demonstrate their Latin mastery and earn outside recognition, which can be helpful for college applications. There are also scholarship opportunities for Latin students taking the advanced levels of the exam.

Intro to Latin - 28 students took the exam. 80% scored 30/40 or higher for the Intro to Latin exam (Cum Laude or higher). The National Average was 28. 8 students got a gold medal; 9 students got a silver medal; 4 earned Magna Cum Laude; 1 earned Cum Laude. (One of the golds was a perfect score!)


Beginning Latin
- 37 students took the exam. About 78% scored 26/40 or higher (26 was the cutoff for Magna Cum Laude). The National Average was 25. 14 earned gold; 10 earned silver; 2 earned Magna Cum Laude; 3 earned Cum Laude. (One of the golds was a perfect score!)


Intermediate Latin
- 14 students took the exam. 93% scored a 28/40 or higher (cut off for Cum Laude). The National Average was 27. 6 earned a gold medal; 5 earned a silver medal; 1 earned Magna Cum Laude; 1 earned Cum Laude


Intermediate Latin Reading Comprehension
- 6 students took the exam. All scored 30/36 or higher. The National Average was 30. 1 gold; 2 silver; 2 Magna Cum Laude


Advanced Latin Prose
- 4 students took the exam. 3 of the 4 earned Cum Laude or higher. The National Average was 23. 2 silver; 1 Cum Laude.


Advanced Latin Poetry
- 3 students took the exam. All 3 scored 37/40 or higher. National Average was 29. 2 gold; 1 silver. (and one of the golds was a perfect score!)


Our total NLE participation this year came to 92 students! Our students did really well on the whole, scoring at or above the national average! Congratulations to you all on your hard work.
