Our Lady Seat of Wisdom College is a Canadian liberal arts institution that offers a faithfully Catholic post-secondary education.
Seat of Wisdom College seeks to form the whole person, on both an intellectual and a spiritual level. The College seeks to allow students to engage with and grow in the truth of a classical liberal arts education that leads them closer to Christ. With this mission in mind, our program seeks to provide students with rich spiritual opportunities alongside a strong and faithful community life.
Our campus is located right next to St. Hedwig's Catholic Church. With this easy access to the Church, students have daily access to the Sacraments and daily Mass, as well as Adoration at St. Hedwig's. The College also has a Chaplain from Madonna House, who is available for confession and spiritual direction with the students.
Students who study at the College can expect to live in a beautiful area of Canada which is also home to a strong and welcoming Catholic community.
Our campus is located in the small town of Barry's Bay, Ontario, which is about two hours west of our nation's capital, Ottawa, and is about four hours north of Toronto.

Barry's Bay is found in the beautiful Madawaska Valley, and the College is next to Lake Kamaniskeg, where students often swim, canoe, and kayak during their free time in the summer months. The town has a population of under two thousand residents and has the necessary amenities for college students, such as two grocery stores and our local St. Francis Memorial Hospital. The surrounding area is home to a strong Catholic community, comprising religious communities such as the apostolate of Madonna House in Combermere, and many homeschooling fam
ilies. Students who study at the College can expect to live in a beautiful area of Canada which is also home to a strong and welcoming Catholic community.
Rather than living in dormitories, SWC students live in single-sex residence houses with other students. There are currently four men's houses and five women's houses, each named after a saint or a title of Our Lady, for students to live in.

Here, students have the opportunity to live in community with fellow young Catholic men and women their own age, while enjoying the space and opportunities
that residence life provides. Students often report house life as the most enjoyable part of the College experience!
The motto of the College is 'veritas vos liberabit,' meaning 'the truth will set you free.'
The motto of the College is 'veritas vos liberabit,' meaning 'the truth will set you free.' Understanding that the goal of education at the College is truth, we seek to provide a quality education that is guided by the spirit of ex corde ecclesiae. Out of reverence to the Church, our Mother and our Teacher, all of our faculty take an oath of fidelity to the Magisterium, before the local bishop, at the beginning of each academic year.
With a faithful education in mind, the faculty seek to inspire students to develop intellectually during their time at the College. The College has about 100 students in residence, and has a ratio of 13:1 for students to faculty. This allows students to meet their professors and seek feedback in their academic journey in a way that larger universities cannot provide.
The College offers 1 and 2 year certificates to students who do not wish to pursue one of our degree programs. Recently, the College has also been granted permission by the province of Ontario to offer 3 and 4 year Bachelor of Arts programs: a three year Bachelor of Arts in Christian Humanities, and a four year Bachelor of Arts Honours program. Students who are looking for a Catholic education in the liberal arts can thus look to the College as an opportunity to study the truth, in beautiful Canada, through our faithfully Catholic program.
