We had a wonderful Light of the Faith episode this week with featured speaker, Paul Lazenby, our school President! This 5th season’s theme is on Our Lady’s title of “Conduit of Grace” and the importance of classical, Catholic education. Through these episodes, we will explore how our Mother of Divine Grace guides us as a school and as individual families in homeschooling our children.
President Lazenby spoke on our Core Values and building the foundation for the Cathedrals in our homes. You may recognize this phrase from our Founder, Laura Berquist, who frequently uses it to remind us of the great importance of homeschooling our children in a living, Catholic culture.
“This is what we are doing when we homeschool our children. We are building cathedrals in our homes, not for our glory but for God's glory, not to use our talents to achieve a work that will garner recognition for us, but to achieve a work that He has given us.”- MODG Founder, Laura Berquist
President Lazenby covered an overview of our Core Values, our non-negotiables when it comes to how we operate as a Catholic school, and additionally discussed how these relate to families within their own homes. He focused on his own experience of working towards making our homes “little churches,” a term from St. John Chrysostom.
“You can know truth, it is knowable. Truth is a person, and in getting to know that person you will be welcomed into His kingdom. That is the core of this Catholic, classical homeschooling, relational environment.” -Paul Lazenby
