Anselm Frietsch (MODG' 23), Silver Medal Award in Carpentry:
Anselm Frietsch, MODG class of 2023, won the silver medal award in carpentry at the Skills USA National Competition in Atlanta, GA during the summer after his senior year. He had previously competed and won the gold medal for the state of Iowa. Currently Anselm is enrolled in Des Moines Area Community College, where he is working toward an Associate's Degree in Construction Management.

Brendan Wick (Grade 11), National Chess Champion for his bracket:
Brendan Wick, grade 11, is the National Chess Champion for his bracket (Under 1200). At the US Chess National High School Championship April 5-7, 2024 in Baltimore, Brendan was the only player in his bracket to win all 7 games! You can browse the final results here.

National Latin Exam Accomplishments:
Two of our MODG seniors, Luke Deitchman and Mary Puschmann, received gold medals on the Advanced Latin Poetry exam, and have been invited to apply for the 2024 Maureen O'Donnell Scholarship for Academic Excellence.

Marian Kenny (Grade 10), Medal Winner for Harp Performance:
Marian Kenny has won 3 separate medals for her performance of "Ómos Do Na Mairbh" on the harp! In 2023 she played it in an Irish music competition with her music group called the Fleadh, in April she played it at a fiddle concert, and this year she is playing it again at the Fleadh.
