Dear Friends,
Merry Christmas, may we all rejoice in the miracle of Christ’s birth!
While it is the case that many in our world see Christmas Day as the end of a joyful season, in reality Christmas has only just begun. As Catholics, we truly have the best of both worlds: the joyful preparation for the coming of Christ, and the ongoing celebration of the Incarnation!
We are so thankful for you and for your commitment to Catholic Homeschooling. At the beginning of a new year, I often reflect on how our families remain one of the most needed antidotes in our culture. A common theme I encounter now is the breakdown in community. This should not come as a surprise, as for decades we have seen the assault on the family, the very building block of a community. Amidst a world of more amenities and knowledge at our fingertips than ever before, people still feel more disconnected and less human.
What so many are missing in their lives are the fruits of simple Christian Charity, Love, Sacrifice, a spirit of Generosity, and true Friendship. In the homeschooling family, these virtues are abundant. While daily struggles are always there, the homeschooling family truly models humility and works together to overcome trials and strengthen the relationships inherent in the domestic church. The seeds of a happy life lived in Christian charity are planted when our children are young, and this work of parents must be protected.
A family that understands this sacred charge is a beacon of light and warmth to all those around them. All over the world, MODG families are doing this very thing. You are making communities brighter and, by your faithful witness, you are leading people to the truth that is Jesus Christ!
We recently saw an incredible example of one family’s conversion story shared in our latest Light of the Faith episode, which I highly recommend viewing. It is a perfect example of the power of the mission you are helping to fulfill in our school! We are blessed to be alongside you in this journey.
I want to thank all of you who responded so generously to Laura’s letter last week! As we partner with families all over the world, I invite you to partner with us by making a gift to help us continue our ministry. Your gifts and prayers make such a difference!
May the blessings of the Incarnate Christ Child be with you always,
Paul Lazenby
