Faith & Morality Syllabus (70 Pages)...$25.00

We use Chief Truths of the Faith and Catholic Morality by Fr. John Laux. These are both excellent texts, with good questions requiring careful analysis of the material by the student. Chief Truths of the Faith covers the teachings of the Church, focusing on topics such as creation, original sin, Christ, faith, grace, eternal life, etc. Catholic Morality explains the basic elements of Catholic moral teaching focusing on topics such as sin, virtue, conscience, duties to God, duties to Neighbor, etc. We also include essay and paper topics to give the student practice with writing in variety of styles. The Faith & Morality Syllabus has a day-by-day breakdown of this course along with paper topics, quizzes, answer keys to the quizzes, and a variety of teaching resources including Ninth Grade Subject Rubrics, Learning Objectives, and grading charts. This is a 1 year, 1 credit course.

Week 1

Day Assignment

Read the Introduction of Chief Truths of the Faith (If you have it, read the poem 'The Hound of Heaven' by Francis Thompson. It speaks to the same point well.)

2 Write a short paper on #1, p. xviii (Our Life’s Purpose). The outline is already there, use it. Read the texts mentioned in the Suggestions for Study before you write, and incorporate them in your paper. Include a list of all the sources that you used in this paper. (This paper should be about 300 words long.)
3 Go over paper with your teacher for content, sentence structure, punctuation, capitalization, and spelling. Re-write it if necessary.
4 Read Chapters I and II in Section I.
